Vaping Products Duty began on 1 October 2026. It applies to vaping liquid produced in, or imported into, the UK from that date, whether or not the liquid contains nicotine. The duty rate is £2.20 per 10ml of liquid. Read HMRC's duty guidance.

HMRC allows retailers to sell eligible unstamped vaping-liquid products produced in, or imported into, the UK before 1 October 2026 until 31 March 2027. Retailers should be able to show evidence that any unstamped stock qualifies. From 1 April 2027, vaping-liquid products sold in the UK must carry a valid duty stamp. The duty can increase costs for newly produced or imported vaping liquids, but it does not set a retail price or require a fixed price rise.
